Deeply rooted in socio-cultural constructivism, Problem-based Learning (PBL) recognizes the critical role of social-cultural contexts in shaping the wholeness of students’ knowledge and competence for their professions. This panel gathers experts in the PBL field to discuss the theoretical social-cultural foundations for PBL practices, the effects on the social-cultural learning outcomes, as well as the critical considerations in PBL research and PBL course and curriculum design.
