Computer science standards are becoming increasingly common in states’ K-12 curricula and programming has become a critical literacy for students. Therefore, there is a growing need for teachers who can integrate programming into their instruction. This session shares insights about how prior programming experience, year in school, and major impact preservice teachers’ motivation related to using and teaching programming. Practical implications on reinforcing preservice teachers’ motivation to use and teach programming will be discussed.
