Culturally Sensitive Instructional Design framework: Identifying and Overcoming Cultural and Language barriers

Short Description

Participants will explore the culturally sensitive learning design framework developed to identify and overcome cultural and language barriers in online course design in a higher education context, which experienced an influx of international students. Learning designers implemented the framework to work through challenges of mitigating cultural barriers, text-heavy content pages, language-dependent academic tasks, support for academic reading and writing, including plagiarism. Participants will apply the framework to sample content pages to experience learning design modification.
