Earning your badge: Microcredentials for preservice teachers to demonstrate technology skills

Short Description

Tangential to the larger microcredential discussion, inservice teachers increasingly choose to pursue Apple Badges or Google Educator Certification. These badges publicly demonstrate popular professional development programs thriving in education today. However, more attention must be paid to the role of these programs and how they might integrate with preservice preparation. This action research study investigated how the Google Educator certification in particular provides authentic technology experiences with common classroom technology tools and leads to valuable microcredentials for preservice teachers
