Short Description

Online instructor roles are different when compared to instructors who teach face to face. In this roundtable presentation, we would like to discuss the eight instructor roles that were identified from literature, interviews with award-winning instructors and online learning experts. The eight roles include, Subject Matter Expert, Course Designer & Developer, Course Facilitator, Course Manager, Advisor/Mentor, Assessor/Evaluator, Technology Expert and Life-long Learner. In addition, tasks for each role were also identified and will be discussed.
