Trends in Canadian Digital Learning Over Time

Short Description

The Canadian Digital Learning Research Association (CDLRA) has surveyed post-secondary institutions across Canada from 2017 through 2019, collecting data on the digital/distance education landscape and publishing annual reports. Previous analyses of the data have been primarily quantitative; however, the survey results also included open-ended responses that required further systematic analysis. This study provides a systematic analysis of these open-ended responses, which resulted in the generation of six themes. We also discuss implications that arose from the results related to the complexity of digital education, the affirmation of sound pedagogical approaches, the recognition of alternative credentials, and the differences in support for OER and open practices.
