Short Description

Asynchronous online discussions (AODs) remain a popular pedagogical method and tool in online courses. In case-based instruction, online discussions help learners make sense of complex problems. Social network analysis (SNA) offers an approach to reveal interaction patterns in AODs. However, little research has considered how interaction patterns in AOD impact learners’ problem-solving performance. Using SNA, in this study we considered the relationship between the learners’ interaction patterns in an AOD and their problem-solving performance.
