Despite the belief that interaction is important, no study has defined the constructs of ‘learning experience design’. To address this gap, this study seeks to define ‘learning experience design’ using grounded theory and related eye-tracking data. The results found: (a) interaction within the learning environment (customization, expectation of content placement, functionality of component parts, interface terms aligned with existing mental models, and navigation), and (b) interaction within the learning space (engagement with modality of content, dynamic interaction, perceived value of mindtools, and scaffolding.)
