The Development of the Instructional Design Dispositions and Expertise Index

Short Description

Existing competency standards evaluate designer’s knowledge, skills, and abilities, but provide little information illuminating performance, or how consistently abilities are applied. To bridge this gap, I will describe the development of the Instructional Design Dispositions and Expertise Index. The purpose of this index is to evaluate the quality and consistency with which designers apply knowledge, skills, and dispositions in practice. Results from an expert review, designer think-aloud sessions, and a small-scale tryout will be discussed.
