Interdisciplinary education is viewed as a way to give an edge to graduates in terms of developing a range of skills. However, the push towards interdisciplinarity in a disciplinary environment is a challenge due to strong educational traditions, power dynamics, academic freedom among others. The round table paper presents results from an ongoing research on identifying patterns in program design across active and suspended interdisciplinary programs using complexity theory as a theoretical lens.
