Deep and Surface Learning Approaches in the Context of Solving Ill-Structured Problems

Short Description

We start by reviewing key research on approaches to learning (deep vs. surface approaches), followed by an introduction an important type of learning in the 21st century: ill-structured problem solving. We then discuss the intersection between these two research areas, and contrast deep and surface learning patterns in the context of of ill-structured problem solving. At the conference, we will discuss strategies to promote deep learning in ill-structured problem solving by addressing various underlying factors.
