Short Description

Research confirms novice online instructors encounter barriers for providing high-quality teaching, including a lack of pedagogical knowledge and skills and low self-efficacy. As revealed by a gap analysis completed for an higher education online program, these barriers can create many issues. In this design case, the authors will present an online mentoring professional development program designed following authentic learning principles to improve new online instructors’ pedagogical skills and self-efficacy for real world transfer.
