Making Sense out of Senseless Crimes: Media Use in Online Criminal Justice Courses

Short Description

This presentation shares results of two online course redesigns incorporating synchronous and asynchronous media use in undergraduate criminal justice courses to closely approximate future field experiences. Interactive instructor videos and student created role-playing scenarios conducted via web-conferencing were designed to encompass multiple perspectives and elicit specific types of critical thinking. Students demonstrated a high level of engagement in critical analysis with their peers and instructor during the scenarios and related discussions.
