Short Description

Understanding students learning experience in the online learning cultural environment has implications on the effectiveness of teaching as well as course design. This study is evaluation-based qualitative research trying to find out students’ perceptions of their learning experience in online nursing courses. Courses in most nursing programs are delivered in face-to-face classes, and nursing students have limited opportunities to take online courses. This study describes the characteristics of online nursing courses, students’ positive and negative reflections on their online learning experience, and what can be done to improve the design and delivery of online nursing courses. What can instructors and instructional designers can do to improve the course design and building a pleasant online learning culture are also discussed in this research.
