Productive Failure learning design entails designing learner driven, collaborative problem-solving conditions where students initially attempt to generate multiple solutions to complex, ill-structured problems without scaffolding and direct instruction. However, implemented for domain specific well-defined mathematics and science problems with largely canonical solutions, there are still gaps in designing for Productive Failure in diverse open-ended problem settings. This work in progress proposes a PF design for open-ended debugging problems in block-based coding platform, Scratch.
