Learner and User Experience Research: An Introduction for the Field of Learning Design & Technology

Sat, Nov 7, 1:00 to 1:45pm EST (1:00 to 1:45pm EST), Virtual AECT, Grand8

Short Description

UX and LX focus on designing for learning in a human-centered manner so as to provide learners with interaction possibilities which intentionally propel them towards learning goals. Historically, little attention has been given to issues of UX and LX in the field of LDT, in part because UX/LX is often approached in sister disciplines (i.e., human-computer interaction or information technology). To approach this gap, we developed an open-access edited volume entitled Learner and User Experience Research: An Introduction for the Field of Learning Design & Technology with the purpose of offering an introductory resource for a variety of audiences–-from students who are beginning their program of study to faculty who teach in HCI, usability, and related programs–-focusing specifically on the theory and practice of UX and LX in LDT.
