Short Description

Elizabeth Johnson and Juhong Christie Liu from James Madison University will present an Open Educational Resource (OER) interactive textbook, Introduction to Petrology. This is a project funded by Virginia's Academic Library Consortium (VIVA), published in 2020. The book is an ongoing media-based project built with the VIVA Pressbooks platform, with the integration of H5P objects. The OER development has been integrated with universal design and multimedia learning principles in the design, presentation, and assessment. It also reflects the collaboration between subject matter expert on content and review, instructional design, project management, media creation, and accessibility considerations. The sponsorship of VIVA has highlighted the metadata use. According to VIVA Google Analytics, it has 16,387 page views, just between February and May of 2020 and with users around the world. The audience will have the opportunity to provide review feedback and learn the design and development of an accessible OER science book
