Design for Diversity: An “Idea Relay” to Harness Collective Intelligence

Short Description

University departments are often composed of faculty members with diverse perspectives and cultural backgrounds. These differences can be a powerful source of innovation. However, harnessing such collective intelligence for productive brainstorming sessions requires careful planning. In this interactive session, we will share one academic department’s experiment with an “idea relay” technique that collaboratively layers individual ideas and varied viewpoints to build toward mutually agreed upon solutions. Steps and examples will be shared.
