This study uses a phenomenological approach to describe the lived-experience of a researcher using John Hattie’s (2009) domains of teaching and learning as a framework in a qualitative case study. The researcher describes and reflects on the experience of designing and conducting the research using these domains. The presentation will include findings relative to how the phenomenological look elucidated the importance and primacy of the researcher in the process of studying factors impacting student success
