Short Description

Ten teams from universities around the world participated in the first design competition supported by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Headquarters Supreme Allied Command Transformation (HQ SACT) at the annual international convention of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) held October 21-25 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The team from Utah State University won the competition. Their presentation detailed the design and development of an hour of focused instruction divided into 5-minute flexible modules to be delivered to learners across NATO-ACT’s 29 member Nations. HQ SACT used all ideas from 3 finalist’s solutions to create a unique NATO solution which is scientifically proven, theoretically sound, creative and feasible. HQ SACT started working on a project based on the D&D Contest finalist solutions with close coordination with US ADL Initiative already working on a similar solution. This is one of the good examples of collaborating with academia for NATO to create innovative solutions with strong theoretical base. NATO is looking forward to keep strong ties with academia and industry to collaborate on innovative solutions for NATO’s education and training requirements.
