As many as 130 million US adults lack proficiency in literacy, and foundations are exploring the investment in learning technologies to address this need. This scoping review summarizes the current state of the evidence on the use of learning technologies for adult literacy to better inform implications for further research, policy, and investments. This study also represents a shift from studying "things" to studying the problems we are trying to solve through learning technology interventions.
