In the flipped learning approach students are introduced to course content prior to in-class sessions. Flipped learning can be beneficial in supporting analysis, application, and synthesis of learning objectives. In this presentation, elements of online course design are shown from the perspectives of multiple instructors from different countries, academic fields and higher educational institutions. The study illustrates alternative instructional opportunities and challenges of course design using the flipped approach for improved learning.
