Short Description

This explanatory sequential mixed method research investigates how clusters of students' interactions generated by social networks correspond to the results of qualitative research. We expect clusters are generated by social networks with the three weeks of asynchronous discussion from the first quantitative study, and this initial quantitative data will be explained with the interview data. Two students who participated in the asynchronous discussion will be interviewed and analyzed with the concept of the learning community and asynchronous discussion. We anticipate clusters from social networks would not represent a stronger sense of community if they do not have clear rationales or purposes to choose when making their replies.
