This study investigates the optimal content design of e-textbooks. Research indicates that unpredictable page length negatively impacts reading comprehension, especially students with underdeveloped self-regulation skills. This experimental study utilizes a randomized-controlled design to evaluate learning experiences, assessed using biometric sensors, between two varying length anatomy e-texts grouped by self-regulation skills determined by the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). Results indicated participants assigned to the predictable page length condition were engaged and experienced higher learning gains.
