K-12 Computer Science teachers’ professional development opportunities and need

Short Description

This study aims to identify effective K-12 CS teaching strategies, challenges, and professional development (PD) needs. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicated that: (1) effective teaching strategies used are authentic problems, formative assessment, and small group collaboration, (2) teaching challenges include teachers’ knowledge gap, student technology use, and elective courses, and (3) the PD needs are content and pedagogy knowledge and learning community.
