Constructionist theory suggests that students benefit from the rich learning processes that occur as they create artifacts that show their knowledge of a topic. However, practical guidance for successfully implementing constructionist learning into rigid traditional learning environments is difficult to find. In this presentation, the concept of practical constructionism – constructionist approaches to learning that successfully occur within the constraints of educational settings – will be proposed and discussed, along with practical guidelines for implementing constructionist learning.
