Short Description

Students naturally shirk away from uncertainty in learning environments. More so, students struggle with the inherent uncertainty in ill-structured problems - messy, unstructured, ‘fuzzy’ problems with no pathway or apparent solution. Collaborative argumentation as consensus building promotes the critical thinking and reasoning skills required by students to learn to grapple with and manage uncertainty within problem-solving contexts. This roundtable encourages discussion regarding problem solving in education and more specifically, managing uncertainty in problem solving.
