Short Description

While IDT professionals are well acquainted with names such as Edgar Dale, Robert Gagne, Lee Cochran, W. W. Charters, and Charles F. Hoban, few have heard of Amelia Meissner, Anna Verona Davis, Elizabeth Golterman, Rita Hocheimer, and Etta Schneider. Using a gender history lens, this presentation focuses on the roles and contributions of IDT women from 1880 to 1960. The presentation demonstrates a more diverse perspective of IDT history reflective of the current field.
