Teacher and Digital Support for Student Engagement in Blended Learning

Student engagement that is energized by motivation and explained by Self-determination Theory (SDT) is a prerequisite for blended learning. This study investigated how teacher and digital needs support distinguished in SDT affects the four dimensions of student engagement– behavioral, cognitive, emotional and agentic– in blended learning; and involved 426 school students. The results revealed perceived teacher support was associated with all the dimensions, and perceived digital support was related in different ways to the dimensions.
