Emergency services conduct tabletop exercises (TTX) to prepare first responders for natural disasters and other crises. Recent events have illustrated that our democratic institutions also face urgent crises, but how do we prepare citizens to respond? We adapted the TTX model to engage students in political science and statistics courses with an authentic scenario – a hypothetical constitutional crisis surrounding the 2024 presidential election. This session presents our shared design process and considerations for student designers.
