Short Description

Despite the increasing need for data scientists, research on how to teach data science is insufficient. This study developed a data science education program for elementary school students using the RPISD (Rapid Prototyping to Instructional Systems Design). Based on the five design principles including SCM (Simplifying Condition Method) derived from literature and experts’ interviews, the program consisting of 8 topics was developed and implemented on 59 students. The pre-post testing showed that it improved data literacy (p<.001).
