How to Apply Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) Framework to Online Environments?- The Case of Public Health Communication Course

Wed, Oct 26, 9:10 to 9:25am PDT (9:10 to 9:25am PDT), Conf Center, Celebrity 3

Short Description

As instructional designers, educators, and learners, we (i.e., the authors) continually search for anti-oppressive online learning environments where we feel safe, cared, and trust to engage in dialogues. In this session, we will discuss actionable design strategies about how the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) Framework would be applied to online settings to help students and faculty understand power, privilege, implicit bias, and microaggressions in the online context. Informed by the Critical Digital Pedagogy, the case of a Public Health Communication online course will be introduced.
