Interest in the study of the learner flow experience (LFE) during engagement with digitally-based games for learning (DBGLs) and its impact on learning outcomes has been increasing in the past decade. With apparently little agreement between researchers on the terms and assessment instruments appropriate for the study of the DBGL-driven LFE, generalizations or meaningful comparisons seem problematic. This integrative review synthesized a theoretical framework that may be leveraged to facilitate researcher conversations and collaborations.
