Research indicates that engagement with self-assessments is associated with higher learning performance. This paper aims at using learning analytics to investigate N = 159 students’ engagement with self-assessments and the relation with their performance. Findings indicate a significant difference between high and low engagement with self-assessments in the final exam. Students who engage less with the self-assessments also perform lower in their studies. Fostering students’ awareness of the benefits of self-assessments is needed.
