Mesocredentials: A Transformative Approach to Support Adult Learners

This presentation focuses on a term, mesocredentials (Author, 2022): MOOC-based learning that translates to academic credit. Mesocredentials are the latest evolution that moves MOOCs closer to integration within higher education. In this presentation, I use chaos theory (Reigeluth, 2019) to situate the development of the MOOC ecosystem. I then explain requirements for a mesocredential, including flexibility, academic credit, and being MOOC-based. I will conclude with future research directions and implications for mesocredentials.
