Short Description

Allowing college students to learn effectively in online courses is critical. Traditionally, content delivery in online courses relies on lecturing monologue videos, but this format leads to students’ passive learning. Laboratory studies suggested watching dialogue videos collaboratively can incur active and constructive learning. This proposal thus showcased four empirical studies following the ICAP theory to translate the laboratory findings into authentic large-scale online STEM courses. Practical implications for designing effective dialogue videos will be discussed.
