35. TED- Playing in the Classroom: Exploring a Gamified Simulation as Field Experience During the Pandemic

Short Description

Pandemic restrictions on in-person pre-service teacher field-experience placements, prompted X University to implement a virtual classroom application. A mixed-method analysis of focus groups, student reflections, and pre-post responses to two questionnaires revealed preservice teacher perceptions of increased internal locus of control and greater self-efficacy. Students also recognized the complexity of addressing the needs of diverse learners. Consequently, use of the simulation provided targeted feedback that improved beginning teacher skills in providing equitable learning experiences.
