Historically, our field focused on the effective design and delivery of learning. This manifested theories and models for learning and minimized ‘extraneous’ issues. However, recent global events force us to consider what we have seen as extraneous, relegated to the margins as also impacting student learning as much as the design of instruction. In this panel we aim to explore and problematise the factors that were contributing to marginalizing certain individuals from achieving learning outcomes.
