Short Description

Computer Science (CS) stereotypes promote the mindset that only nerdy White males who have a high IQ and are technology aficionados will succeed in the field, leading to gender and racial disparities. Among teacher candidates, stereotypes can hinder opportunities for students to learn CS in school. This study investigated if exposure to a stereotypical vs. counter-stereotypical role model affects teacher candidates’ stereotypes and attitudes towards teaching CS.
