Short Description

This meta-analysis examined the magnitude of the relationship between cognitive presence and students’ perceived learning and satisfaction in fully online courses. The results showed cognitive presence is strongly correlated with students’ satisfaction (r= .682, k =31) and perceived learning (r=.908, k=19). There were no significant moderators (e.g., course duration, target audience, discipline area) that explain the variation among correlations (94.743% for satisfaction and 81.651% for perceived learning). Implications and future research will be discussed.
