Comparing Individual and Small Group Case-Based Learning: A Case Study of In-Service Teachers in an Online Course

Mon, Oct 24, 3:20 to 3:35pm PDT (3:20 to 3:35pm PDT), Conf Center, Sunset 4

Short Description

This exploratory, descriptive study examined how in-service teachers’ case study reflection differed during individual and group case-based learning in an online environment. Guided by the Five R’s approach to reflection, we found similar reflection patterns during individual and group case-based learning. However, the depth and breadth of reflection varied. We argue that both case-based learning approaches have value, and perhaps their thoughtful connection with adequate support and learning experience design needs more attention.
