Learning during disruption: Teenagers’ use of social media to support their classroom learning and future planning during quarantine

Fri, Oct 28, 11:50am to 12:05pm PDT (11:50am to 12:05pm PDT), Conf Center, Sunset 5

Short Description

This session introduces the findings from a study that explored how teenagers used social media platforms to support their school learning and future planning needs during the COVID-19 quarantine. The findings present a naturalistic perspective of teenagers’ productive social media use, specifically how they use these platforms for informal learning purposes. This session will benefit both K-12 practitioners and scholars, as findings show the importance of informal learning skills at the intersection of school-based learning.
