Using Multimodal Classroom Analytics to Unpack Instructors’ Sensemaking Processes

Tue, Oct 25, 11:50am to 12:05pm PDT (11:50am to 12:05pm PDT), Conf Center, Melrose 1

Short Description

There is growing interest in the use of multimodal classroom analytics, yet little is known about the detailed processes through which instructors make sense of these tools and their impact on teaching practices. This research aimed to investigate how instructors make sense of classroom analytics. 15 engineering instructors agreed to participate. A grounded theory approach was used. Preliminary findings revealed three main categories for instructors’ analytics sensemaking processes: pedagogy, analytics, and the interaction between both.
