Monitoring the Impact of VR Learning Environments on Usability, Cognitive Load, and Visuospatial Working Memory

Wed, Oct 26, 8:00 to 8:15am PDT (8:00 to 8:15am PDT), Conf Center, Melrose 1

Short Description

This study takes a theoretically grounded approach in outlying the taxonomy and operationally defining the factors for a Virtual Reality (VR) based learning environment. It assesses the usability of the virtual museum experience in a low (desktop) vs high (Head Mounted Display) system immersion and monitors its impact on learners' cognitive load. It also focuses on how individual differences in visuospatial working memory capacity impact learners’ operations and learning outcomes at different levels of immersion.
