Remember when we used to care about generalization? A virtual reality generalization study with autistic adults

Mon, Oct 16, 1:30 to 2:20pm EDT (1:30 to 2:20pm EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Seminole E and D

Short Description

This session focuses on programming for generalization using a fully immersive virtual reality (VR) intervention for teaching transportation skills to autistic adults related to using a university shuttle. Using multi-methods, this study (1) identifies similarities and differences in behavior between the VR environment and the real-world, (2) describes autistic participants’ perceptions of telepresence in the VR environment, and (3) explains how participants characterized similarities and differences between the VR environment and the real-world.
