Inquiry-based learning, case-based learning, and problem-based learning are all types of active learning that we seek to help clarify in this presentation in a manner such that any of them can then be used as an instructional strategy. More specifically, we aim to present a way of defining IBL that has been used extensively in mathematics education but has not been widely used or studied in other education fields.
