Finding the best user-centered strategy that fosters engagement is challenging. Gamification is one strategy used in many classrooms, and research results are mixed, and frameworks and models appear to be lacking in theory. What if there is more than one motivational driver at play moderating the effects of game elements on learner engagement? What are the motivational drivers impacting gamified learning activities? How could we individualize gamified activities if we knew our learner’s gamification typology?
