Short Description

This session will provide participants with practical strategies for facilitating higher levels of cognitive presence in online discussion boards. Based on previous research on the Community of Inquiry framework and dissertation research currently being conducted, instructional practices that support students' use of shared metacognitive strategies in online discussions and facilitate higher levels of cognitive presence will be presented. The presenters will share lessons learned and practical advice for applying these strategies in other online courses.
