Preparing Educators to ‘Teach the World’: Culturally-Responsive Teaching Through Global Immersion and Technical Cultural Representations

Wed, Oct 18, 1:30 to 2:20pm EDT (1:30 to 2:20pm EDT), Doubletree Main Conference Center - Seminole, Gold Coast IV

Short Description

This session describes research findings generated from a professional development study abroad program to Munich, Germany for practicing K-12 teachers. Preliminary findings suggest that culturally-focused and technology-enhanced professional development in an international setting can prepare teachers for culturally responsive teaching and bring lasting benefits to K-12 teachers in the U.S. This study has implications for educators and administrators looking to reflect on and transform their thinking around professional development for inservice teachers post COVID.
