This conference proposal outlines the design and implementation of an Immersive Makerspace (IM) using the Mozilla Hubs, a social open source Virtual Reality (VR) platform accessible across geographical boundaries. This Design-Based Research (DBR) study aims to explore the effectiveness and challenges of making in the IM and investigate the use of VR in promoting learning about abstract concepts among elementary students, with a focus on the professional development of rural teachers.
